Configuring Potion

You must configure Potion the first time it is added to your dashboard with at least one Trigger and one Action.

Open the Wizard

You must open the wizard to configure Potion.

Before you begin: If you opened the widget in preview mode on a dashboard on which you only have Reader rights, pin it to a dashboard on which you either have Owner or Contributor rights:
  1. On the widget's splash screen, click Pin to Dashboard.
  2. Select a dashboard and a tab.
  3. Click Add.
Recommendation: As configuring Potion can be a long process, always pin the widget to a dashboard by clicking Pin to dashboard on the widget header, even if the current dashboard allows you to configure it in preview mode. Otherwise, you will lose your configuration when you refresh your dashboard.
To open the wizard, do either of the following:
  • If the widget has never been configured, click Configure.

The wizard opens and shows the Add an Ingredient panel of the When pane.

  • To edit the configuration of a Potion widget, either click X Edit from the top right-hand corner of the widget, or select Menu > Edit.
    Note: You must be the user who initially configured the Potion to edit its configuration, including when you are on a synchronized dashboard.

Add Triggers

You must add at least one Ingredient that Potion can use as a Trigger. When the conditions of the Trigger are met, Potion executes its Actions.

Before you begin: Open the wizard.
  1. On the When pane, click 3 Add.

    Note: This step does not apply if you are configuring Potion for the first time as the Add an Ingredient panel is already open.

  2. Click the Ingredient of your choice and do all of the following:
    1. In the Configuration section, select a Trigger and fill all the options that the Ingredient you clicked may require.
    2. Optional: In the Condition section, select and add conditions to make the Trigger more specific.
    3. Click Save.

    Note: For information on how to configure a specific Trigger, see Potion: Configuring Potion: Configuring Ingredients: Configuring the [Ingredient name] Ingredient.

    The Ingredient is added to your Potion as a Trigger. You can repeat these steps to add as many Triggers as you want to your Potion.
  3. If you added several Triggers, click ALL on WHEN ALL HAPPEN and select either of the following from the list:
    • ALL to make the Potion execute its Actions when the conditions of all the Triggers are met.
    • ANY to make the Potion execute its Actions when the conditions of at least one Trigger are met.

Add Actions

You must add at least one Ingredient that Potion can use as an Action. The Action is executed when the conditions of the Trigger(s) are met.

  1. On the Then pane, click 3 Add.
  2. Click the Ingredient of your choice and do all of the following:
    1. In the Configuration section, select an Action and fill all the options that the Ingredient you clicked may require.
    2. Click Save.

    Note: For information on how to configure a specific Action, see Potion: Configuring Potion: Configuring Ingredients: Configuring the [Ingredient name] Ingredient.

    The Ingredient is added to your Potion as an Action. You can repeat these steps to add as many Actions as you want to your Potion.

Delete Ingredients

You can delete the Ingredients that are used as Triggers or Actions.

  1. Open the wizard.
  2. Click the Ingredient you want to delete.
  3. Click Delete.

Name your Potion

After configuring at least one Trigger and one Action, you must name your Potion.

  1. On the wizard, click Next.
  2. In the field, enter the name of your choice.

    The widget header will display this name.

  3. Click Finish.
  4. If you have not pinned the widget to your dashboard, click Pin to dashboard on the widget header.

The Potion is configured and executes its Actions whenever the conditions of its Triggers are met.
