Setting up Synchronization

You can define how to synchronize the ECAD library with the data stored in 3DEXPERIENCE. This task creates a .ped file used when you run the CDM task. The Connector for Cadence OrCAD Database Library loads the settings from this file into the CDM synchronization dialog box.

Before you begin:
  • Log in to 3DEXPERIENCE before performing this task.
  • Choose the appropriate mapping file for 3DEXPERIENCE Engineering BOM Management and 3DEXPERIENCE Part and IP Classification Libraries.
  1. In the task list panel, click Setup Synchronization and click .
The wizard shows an information box that explains the process.
  2. Click Next.
  3. Enter values for the Component Data Management general settings:

    Setting Description
    Use Classification based on:
3DEXPERIENCE Engineering BOM Management Type ECAD library parts will be synchronized with Engineering BOM Management part types.
Part and IP Classification Libraries ECAD library parts will be synchronized with IP Classification parts, part families, and part libraries.
    Webforms:
Search Definition From the list, select the form used to search for parts on the 3DEXPERIENCE server.
3DEXPERIENCE Data Definition From the list, select the form used to update components in 3DEXPERIENCE or to retrieve data from 3DEXPERIENCE.
3DEXPERIENCE Existence Check From the list, select the form used to verify if a component exists in 3DEXPERIENCE.
Add Components in 3DEXPERIENCE When selected, creates new components if they do not exist in 3DEXPERIENCE.
Include 3DEXPERIENCE subtypes When selected, automatically considers all the subtypes of the selected types.

When clear, only the selected type is considered and the subtypes are omitted.

Use 3DEXPERIENCE modified date When selected, enables the Synchronize components modified within x days box to define the number of days to check for modifications to consider parts for synchronization.

  4. Click Next.
  5. From the first list, select a mapping file to use when sending ECAD data to the 3DEXPERIENCE server for synchronization. Click Browse to locate the required mapping file.

The default-mapping files are present under the data folder of the Library Connector installation directory.

  6. From the second list, select a mapping file to use when receiving data from the 3DEXPERIENCE server for synchronization. Click Browse to locate the required mapping file.
  7. Click Next.
  8. To create a preselection of classes, follow these steps:
    1. Click New.
    2. Enter a name for the class preselection.
    3. Select the check boxes for the types of items to include in the preselection group.
    4. Click OK.
You can also click Edit to edit any existing preselection group, or Delete to delete a preselection group.
  9. If the dialog box lists more than one item, select the one you want to use as the default and click Set as Default.
The Connector for Cadence OrCAD Database Library uses the default set during the synchronization process.
  10. Click Next.
  11. To create a preselection of the part type, follow these steps:
    1. Click New.
    2. Enter a name for the part preselection.
    3. Select the check boxes for the types of parts to include in the preselection group.
    4. Click OK.
You can also click Edit to edit any existing preselection group, or Delete to delete a preselection group.
  12. If the dialog box lists more than one item, select the one you want to use as the default and click Set as Default.
The Connector for Cadence OrCAD Database Library uses the default set during the synchronization process.
  13. Click Finish.

The Connector for Cadence OrCAD Database Library saves the setup in a file *.ped file, in the <Library Project>/.pe4/ directory.
