Searching for Parts

You can search for parts to add them to an assembly in the BOM Editor dialog box.


Before you begin: Open a project in the BOM Editor dialog box.
  1. To assign a 3DEXPERIENCE part to a component listed in the BOM Editor dialog box, right-click the part and select Assign 3DEXPERIENCE Part.

    To add parts from 3DEXPERIENCE as children to an assembly, right-click the assembly and select Add Existing From 3DEXPERIENCE.

  2. Enter search criteria in any of these fields to filter the possible list of parts.

    Search Criteria Description
    Type Click and select the type of object you want to find.
    Name If you know all or part of the object's name, enter that text. You can use the * wildcard.
    Revision Specify a revision level to limit the found objects to those that have that specific revision level.
    Latest Revision Select the check box if you want to limit the results to the latest revision of an item. Select this box to disable Revision text.
    Policy Click and select the policy that governs the object you want to find.
    State Click to select the current state for objects. You can only choose states included in the selected policy, and you can choose more than one state.
    Vault Click to select the vault used to store the required objects.
    Description If you know all or part of the object's description, enter that text. You can use the (*) wildcard.
    Search Limit Enter an integer to define the maximum number of objects to find and show in the results list.
    Additional Fields The search criteria could include additional fields that allow you to select an operator and range values. To enter operator-based criteria:
    1. From the list, select an operator. For text attributes, you can choose one of these operators:

      Text Operator Description
      Begins With Finds attributes whose data begins with the text you enter (like including a wildcard (*) at the end of the text you enter).
      Ends With Finds attributes whose data ends with the text you enter (like including a wildcard (*) at the beginning of the text you enter).
      Includes Finds attributes whose data includes the text you enter (like including a wildcard (*) before and after the text you enter).
      Is Exactly Finds attributes with data that exactly matches the text you enter (like not including a wildcard (*) in the text you enter).
      Is Not Finds attributes that do not contain the text you enter.
      Matches Finds attributes with data that matches text you enter.

      For numeric attributes, you can choose one of these operators:

      Text Operator Description
      Is at Least Finds parts that have an attribute value of at least the specified numeric value.
      Does Not Equal Finds parts that have an attribute value of something other than the specified numeric value.
      Equals Finds parts that have an attribute value equaling the specified numeric value.
      Is Between Finds parts that have an attribute value lying between the specified numeric value.
      Is Less Than Finds parts that have an attribute value of less than the specified numeric value.
      Is More Than Finds parts that have an attribute value of more than the specified numeric value.

    2. Enter a value in the box. If you chose Is Between, enter a starting and ending range in the two boxes.

  3. Click Search.

    Cancel closes the Search dialog and ends the search operation and Reset clears all the search results.

    The Connector for Cadence OrCAD retrieves the parts that match the search criteria and lists them in the results table.
  4. Select the required part and click Assign.
