Using CAD Object Templates

You can use the CAD object templates stored in 3DEXPERIENCE to create models in OrCAD. The Connector for Cadence OrCAD supports native DSN files for OrCAD and native board .brd files as templates unloaded in 3DEXPERIENCE.

Before you begin: Ensure that the templates are created by the Integration Administrator or a user who has appropriate access privileges.
  1. In the Cadence OrCAD toolbar, select Start New
The Start New dialog box opens.
  2. Enter a name via the following options:

    1. Specify a name under the Name field.
    2. Choose Autoname Series from the menu so that the system can automatically assign a name from the Autoname Series series selected.

  3. Specify the directory in which the new CAD object will be created in by using browse located in the Location to create new data field.
  4. Select Submit after you provide a name for the CAD object.
Once the archives are extracted to a folder, and the archives contain a project, a dialog opens asking if the checked-out project should be opened in the CAD tool.
  5. Select one of the following:
    1. Select Yes.
This action loads the checked-out design into the CAD tool and opens the CAD tool.
    2. Select No.
This action loads the checked-out design into the CAD tool without opening it.

A new CAD object is now ready to use.
