Exploring Parents

You can explore the parent objects in an explore or navigation tab. In this mode, you can insert the parents of already explored objects above these objects.

  1. Search for an object.

For example, you can use a search string such as prd: *OrgRsc*.

  2. Right-click the desired object and select Explore With > Explore with Manufacturing Finder.
A navigation tab opens with the chosen object under the corresponding node in the tree (Product, Manufactured Item, System, or Resource).
  3. Right-click the object in the tree and select Explore With > Explore Parents.
The Explore Parents dialog box opens. It shows the chosen object with its parent objects.
  4. In the dialog box, right-click the parent and select Explore With > Explore with Manufacturing Context Builder.
The Explore in PPR dialog box opens.
Note: This dialog box appears directly if the Display Explore in PPR Dialog Box option is selected in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > Social and Collaborative > Global Design Management > Manufacturing Finder > Explore.
  5. Select the current navigation tab name in the dialog box and click OK.
The parent object is added to the corresponding node in the tree.

Important:
  • The Explore Parents dialog box contains icons to toggle to Instance/Reference mode, display the list of all roots containing the reference, and select a reference from the search results or navigation tab to display the complete parent hierarchy. For more information, see Product Finder User's Guide: Exploring Parents.
  • The Explore Parents command is available from the search results, as well as in the navigation tab.
  • This command can be used to search for, then open the parents of a product, manufactured item, system, operation, or resource reference.
