Opening PPR Content Using the Open Command

You can use the Open command to open PPR contexts or PPR objects in an authoring tab. This section provides different scenarios to illustrate the different behavior of this command with PPR objects.

Open with Selection

You can use the Open command on a selected object, so that only visible branches from the navigation tab are opened.

  1. Create a product structure with a least three levels of products.
  2. Search for the root product and explore it using Explore with Manufacturing Finder.


  3. Expand the first level of the root product.
  4. From the tree, remove the product branches that you do not want to open.


  5. Expand the second level of the remaining product branch.
  6. Select the PPR fake node from the tree.
  7. From the action bar, click Open .
    A new authoring tab opens showing only the product branches that were expanded in the navigation tab.



Open with No Selection

You can use the Open command without selecting an object and open all visible branches along with all the expanded leaves in an authoring tab. The leaves are the terminal objects of a branch.

  1. Create a product structure with a least three levels of products.
  2. Search for the root product and explore it using Explore with Manufacturing Finder
  3. Expand the first level of the root product.
  4. From the tree, remove the product branches that you do not want to open.
  5. Expand the second level of the remaining product branch.
  6. Deselect all nodes or products from the tree.
  7. From the action bar, click Open .
    A new authoring tab opens showing that all the product branches that were visible in the navigation tab are expanded and opened.
