About Downward Compatibility Checker Tool

This topic explains the tool available to check compatibility of a given 3D shape to migrate to V5 level with its specifications. The data can be modified to make it suitable for this conversion.

Using the downward compatibility batch, you can convert all 3D shapes with their specifications to V5 level. For more information, See V6 Fundamentals User's Guide: Batches and Plug-in Methods: Running the Downward Compatibility Batch.

You can use the CATDwc V6/V5 As Specs Checker/Cleaner command from the Review section of the action bar to ensure the compatibility of a given 3D shape for V5 migration. The corresponding dialog box is displayed showing result of the checker command.

  • If all the elements of the active 3D shape are compatible for V5 conversion, then a correct sign is displayed in the dialog box.
  • If some features of the active 3D shape are incompatible for V5 conversion, then a wrong sign is displayed in the dialog box. The incompatible features appear in the Elements list. The following contextual commands are available on these elements in the dialog box:

    • Delete: deletes the corresponding feature.

By default, this option is selected in the Action list.

    • Keep: keeps the feature as it is.
Note: You can switch from the Delete to Keep action and vice versa.
    • Centre Graph
    • Reframe On.

Click OK to perform the actions selected for the incompatible features. You can manually delete the features with the Keep action to make the 3D shape compatible for V5 conversion.
