Adding Bodies

You can add a body to another body. Adding a body to another one means uniting them via a Boolean operation.

Note: Depending on your role, you may not have access to this functionality.


Before you begin: Open a 3D shape representation. Insert a Body.

  1. From the Structure or the Essentials section of the action bar, click Add .
    The Add dialog box appears.
  2. In the Add box select the body.

    You can check the polarity of the body in the tree where a plus or minus sign appears alongside the body.

  3. In the To box select another body to which the earlier selected body is to be added.

    By default, it is proposed to assemble the selected body with PartBody if no other body exists in the tree.

    Important: Editing a Add feature is possible. To do so, double-click the feature and then select the new body to be added
    • The material common to PartBody and the selected body is unified. That is the addition is successful.
    • A new node denoting the Boolean operation, Add.x, appears in the tree under the PartBody node. The body is moved under the Boolean operator node in the tree.
