About Risks

A risk identifies a potential problem that may prevent the completion of a task or project. You can capture risk details and track the mitigation process.

You create risks for projects and project concepts and tasks within them. You cannot create risks for project templates.

The risk owner and assignees, project owner, and project leads can attach documents and project content to a risk. The steps for working with risk attachments are the same as the steps for attachments to any item.

About Exporting Risks

You can use the tool to export the list of risks on any Risks page, including a list of your assigned risks, the list of a project's risks, or the list of a task's risks. The list of risks is exported to a comma-delimited text file (.csv extension). You can save the file to disk or open it directly in the app configured on your system for handling csv files.

The export for risks exports only the information displayed on the Risks table page. This does not include all attributes of a risk, such as the abatement plan, impact value, or probability value. Because it does not include all risk attributes, the exported information cannot be used when importing risks back into the system.

About Risk Factors

When you create a risk, a risk factor entry is also created. The system calculates the risk factor value by multiplying the probability value by the impact value. The probability and impact values can both range from 1 to 5, 1 being the lowest and 5 the highest. Therefore, the risk factor can range from 1 (1x1) to 25 (5x5). The risk owner, assignee, or any project member with Project Lead/Owner access can change risk factor values to reflect changes in the risk status.
