Using Additional Specifications

You can use additional specifications when the standard specification needs to be more constrained without modifying it.

The criteria to create the additional specifications can be of different types. For example:

  • Spatial localization
  • Restriction of a piping/tubing specification without modifying it
  • Limitation of the list of components for a specific project

Before you begin: Standard specification is already existing in the 3DEXPERIENCE.

About Additional Specifications
  1. Create additional specifications in Add > Content .
For more information, see Engineering Specification Capture & Reuse User's Guide: Working with Specifications: Creating Specifications.
  2. Copy all the tables and part filters from the standard specification to the additional specification.
  3. To restrain the results of piping/tubing specifications, replace the tables and part filters you want to modify with the new ones that include the limited capability.
  4. Create the business logic to retrieve the list of additional specifications that are valid according to the criteria.
  5. Optional: Add attributes in the business logic to overfilter the piping/tubing specification.
