This section provides a brief overview of the Minimum Straight Length table.

The Minimum Straight Length table maps some attributes of the pipes/tubes with the allowed minimum straight lengths between two bends.

Note: Values this table are independent of the values you enter in the discrete list tables.

In Data Setup, this table should be assigned to:

  • when using file-based tables, the Minimum Tangent Length Table item in the resource table of Piping/Tubing Design Resources.
  • when using Engineering Specification objects, a specification in the resource table of Piping/Tubing Specification Resources.

To customize the table, enter a line in the spreadsheet for each standard and nominal size in every material that you use.

Important: Any material you specify in the minimum straight length table must exist in the database. There is a specific procedure for creating material - you must use this procedure and save the material in the database first. For more information, see the 3DEXPERIENCE Native Apps and the Material Definition User's Guide . The name in the DS_Material column must match the name in the database. Also note that material names in the database must be unique. If you have two entries with the name nickel in the database then, when you are routing a nickel pipe, you will get an error message and material will not be applied to the pipe.

For apps that have flexible routing, you should add a second table for flexible pipes and tubes and associate it in Data Setup.
