Engineering Specifications

This section explains the basic concepts of Engineering Specifications.

This page discusses:

What is an Engineering Specification

An Engineering Specification object describes a set of technological solutions in a specific context and may contain many Technological Tables and part Filters.

An Engineering Specification is associated to line ID and used when working under it. It also contains a set of parts authorized in the line ID context.

The technological solutions are described using tables and the authorized parts using parts filters.

Using Engineering Specifications

This section describes how to use engineering specifications.

An Engineering Specification must be created for a specific context and not for a specific project. One specification can be used in many projects. Tables and parts filters must also reused as much as possible.

Each Engineering Specification has only one standard.

If you are working outside a line ID context, then the Default Specification is used.

Business Rules

You can create business rules to avoid instantiation of parts filter or technological table in a specification. For example, you can forbid the instantiation of a table that does not have the same standard than the specification. You can use attributes to create business rules.
