Swiveling a Part at the End of a Flexible Route

You can rotate a part or an item of equipment connected to the end of a flexible route to minimize the strain in that route.


Before you begin:
  • Open a product containing a flexible route that has at least one of its ends connected to a part or an item of equipment.
  • The swivel part must have two or more ports.

About the Swivel Command
  1. From the Fluid Design section of the action bar, select Manipulate Mode as the process mode.
  2. From the Selection Options context toolbar, click Part Selection and select a flexible route in the 3D area.
  3. On the context toolbar that appears, click Swivel and select the swivel part in the 3D area.

    Note: You can swivel only one part at a time.

    A preview displays the result of the rotation.
    Notes:
    • The preview always displays the result according to the Standard algorithm even if you select the FLEX algorithm as the Build Algorithm in the Flexible Route Definition dialog box.
    • The computation mode that you select has no impact on the result of the rotation.
  4. Optional: If the swivel part has two or more ports whose axes do not align with each other, select a port axis of your choice to perform the rotation.
  5. Optional: If the flexible route has one or more intermediate points, choose how to treat these points with Intermediate Point.

    Keep Takes into account the next intermediate point on the flexible route from the swivel part. The Swivel command adapts the rotation accordingly.
    Delete Deletes any intermediate point on the route between the swivel part and the next part, support, or end point. The Swivel command performs the rotation according to the next part, support, or end point on the flexible route.
  6. Click .

The swivel part rotates around the rotation axis.
