Creating a Business Rule

You can create a business rule to modify the behavior of the system. A business rule is used to implement a Business Logic behavior.

Note: You can also create a business rule in Quality Rules Capture.

Editing a Business Rule
  1. In the Resource Tables tab, right-click the desired resource set and select Create a new Resource Table.
    The Resource Set dialog box is displayed.
  2. Enter the resource set name and click OK.
    The window related to the Resource set you selected opens.
  3. Select the desired opening row and double-click the Unset resource cell to allocate the resource.
    The Select a Business Rule dialog box appears.
  4. Click ... to open the business rule editor and create your rule:
    1. Enter the business rule name in the Business Rule dialog box and click OK.
    2. Select the fact type. To do so, double-click the cell next to ThisObject in the Type column and select the type.
    3. Enter the business rule script.
  5. Click OK when done.
    The business rule is created and appears in the tree below the node corresponding to the opening ID you are working on. A mask appears next to the business rule indicating if this business rule is client only, server only, or client and server.
    Important: You can also create a business rule when trying to select one from the Select a Business Rule tab in the Data Setup app. In this case, click ... in front of the Create New Business Rule box.
