Process Settings

The simulation setup determines how the plastic injection analysis should be carried out. The temperature and gravity settings apply to the entire analysis. Other specific settings apply only to the individual Mold, Fill, or Pack simulations.

The following temperature settings and the gravity control specification apply to the entire analysis:

  • The melt temperature, which is the temperature at which polymer material enters at the injection locations
  • The default mold temperature, which is a uniform value applied everywhere in the mold. The app overrides this value with any mold wall conditions that you define and with results from the Mold simulation
  • The ejection temperature, which is the temperature below which you can safely eject the part from the mold
  • The gravity direction, which is the downward direction in which gravity acts
  • The mold-melt heat transfer coefficient, which describes the amount of heat transfer that occurs between the polymer material and the mold wall
  • The part insert temperature, which is the temperature of the part insert before starting the Fill and Pack analysis
