Defining the Mesh Capture Order

To reduce instances of non-conformal meshes, you can specify a source geometry to project its mesh onto target geometries (that is, the capture order) based on their coincident, overlapping interface.

Before you begin: Determine the locations of your non-conformal mesh instances using the Show Non-Conformal Meshes tool.

  1. From the Mesh section of the action bar, click Mesh Capture Order .
The Mesh Capture dialog box lists all of the geometries in the model.
  2. Select a source geometry from the Part list.
The Captured Parts list displays all of the target geometries that might capture the source geometry's mesh.
  3. Select the target geometries from the Captured Parts list.
  4. Click Close.
The nodes and element faces of the target geometries update to match those of the source geometry. If the mesh capture is unsuccessful, you can change the mesh capture order to attempt to convert the non-conformal mesh instances.
Tip: To change the capture order, clear your selections from the Captured Parts list, and select a new source geometry from the Part list.
