- From the top bar, select .
The Import 3D XML dialog box appears. - Accept the default mode (File Exchanges) to import a 3D XML file from the selected drive.
- Enter or browse to the directory containing the 3D XML file to
import.
The 3D XML files in the selected directory are displayed. The authoring
icon
that appears next to each simulation indicates it will be imported with authoring. - Select the 3D XML file to import.
- Choose either of the following Import Options:
- Select Import As New
to create a new simulation that is a copy of the original. You
become the owner of the new simulation, and new internal
identifiers, business rules, and lifecycles are applied to the new simulation.
There is no connection between the new simulation and the 3D XML
file; changes to the 3D XML file will not be propagated to the new
simulation.
- Select Import As Reference
to create a new simulation that refers to the original simulation
in the database. The simulation is imported into the database with
the same name, internal identifiers, business rules, and lifecycles
as the original simulation. You cannot edit the simulation, because
it is owned by the user that created the 3D XML file. However, if
the original simulation is modified, the modifications will
automatically propagate to any entries in the database that refer
to the original simulation.
- If you chose to import a new simulation, you can generate a new name or you can enter the name in the
Duplication string box.
- Select Delete file if import is
successful to delete the 3D XML file after the simulation is imported into the
database.
- Click Preview to see the objects and the information that will be imported.
Note:
You cannot view a simulation with the 3D XML Player.
- Click Close to close the Import Preview window.
- Click OK.
The simulation is imported into the database, and the Import 3D XML dialog box closes.
