The following are some of the capabilities of Product Line Management:

  • Product lines are created and managed in the context of a company. Product lines manage models, and models manage model versions. A product line must be created before performing any other functions.
  • Products are created and managed in the context of a product line. Three types of model versions are supported by default: hardware, software, and service.
  • Models, which are a collection of model versions, features, and requirements, provide full visibility into all builds created for a model version or product configuration that it manages.
  • A test case is a single testing action against an object that is under test. It has a group of inputs and expected results that exercise a component to cause errors and failures. Test cases can be created and attached to features, issues, use cases, and requirements.

A user with the Product Manager, Product Architect, and Product Engineer role can access Product Line Management through other apps such as Variant Management or Traceable Requirements Management.
