Creating and Routing Instrumentation and Control Routes

You can create and route I&C routes in a diagram view.

Before you begin: In a diagram view, create a piping diagram containing components connected through pipes . Two of these components must be instruments with a free logical port.
  1. Select the instrument to be connected.

A context toolbar appears, containing commands to create an elbow or a straight route.

Your pointer turns to a hand when a port is selected:

    Important:
    • Ports on a component can have a visible representation or not.
    • If no existing port is selected, a new one is created.

  2. Select one of the three commands according to the type of route to be created:

    • Single-Step Line Route.
    • Straight-Line Route.
    • Angled Line Route.

  3. Select the second instrument to be connected.
    The I&C loop is created.
