Modifying Instances Names for Piping Components/Routes

You can choose the instance name of new and existing piping components or routes during their instantiation in a diagram view.


Before you begin:
  • In Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Systems Architecture > Piping & Tubing Systems Design > Instance Name, select every component for which the instance name will be modifiable. For more information, see Native Apps Preferences Guide: Instance Name.
  • For the purpose of this scenario, create a catalog containing a component with a symbol representation.
  1. From the Tool section of the action bar, select Catalog Browser .
  2. In the Catalog Browser dialog box, right-click the component to be inserted and select Use Item > Insert.
    The symbol appears and follows your pointer in the diagram view.
  3. Click the diagram view at the convenient place to create the symbol.

    Note: You can modify the orientation of your symbol through the commands of the context menu.

  4. Click the diagram view to validate your creation.
    The Instance Name dialog box appears.
  5. Enter the name of the instance in the box.

    Tip: You can also modify the instance name by clicking .

  6. Optional: click if you want to come back to the instance name initially displayed in the Instance Name box.
  7. Click to validate your instance name.

    Note: If you click , the Instance Name dialog box closes and your modifications, if any, are not applied.

    The piping component with the defined instance name appears in the tree.
