Assigning Physical Part Number

You can assign a physical part number to a piping component.

Using this function, you can take advantage from the Library Browser to quickly search and instantiate general components classified in general libraries and classes.

Before you begin: In the Piping/Tubing Discipline Resource set of the Data Setup, set the following resources:
  • Logical Part Subtype
  • Logical to Physical Part Subtype Mapping
  • Part Catalog
  1. Right-click a piping component and select Properties.
  2. In the Reference tab, select a logical subtype from the Subtype box.

Note: The subtype attributes are retrieved from the Predefined Part Type resource.

  3. In the Piping tab, select a type of physical part in the Predefined Part Number box.

Note: The values are retrieved from the Logical to Physical Part Subtype Mapping resource.

  4. In the Physical Part Number box, select the part number to be assigned to the piping component.

    Notes:
    • The values are retrieved from the Part Catalog resource.
    • The list of part numbers is filtered based on the nominal size value defined in the Nominal Size box.
    • You can define part number and part type attributes through the ManagePredefinedPartType_PartNumber business rule.
