Modifying/Propagating a Piping Component Nominal Size

You can modify the Nominal Size attribute of a piping component and propagate it to other piping components if connected to the selected piping component.

Important: The propagation stops at the following components:
  • Components that are not from the piping discipline (I&C loop, equipment)
  • Multiport size components
  • Sheet Connectors
  • Branch when the Stop at branch option is selected.

Before you begin: Create a diagram view containing components connected to each other. For this scenario, the system contains a reducer with multisize ports.

  1. From the Edition section of the action bar, click Propagate Nominal Size Attribute .
  2. Select the reducer component.

Note: You can still modify your selection once the Propagate Attribute dialog box is opened.

The network connected to the ports of the selected component is highlighted.

  3. In the Propagate Attribute dialog box, clear the ports for which you do not want to propagate the nominal size.
Only the network connected to the selected port remains highlighted.

  4. If needed, modify the size of the selected port.

Note: You can retrieve the values defined in the Nominal Size resource from the Data Setup Piping/Tubing Discipline resource set.

The Nominal Size attribute of the highlighted components is updated.
  5. Optional: To stop the propagation at the first branch of the network, select Stop at branch.

Note: When Stop at branch option is cleared, the propagation is done on the pipes with the same line ID as the pipe connected to the To end of the branch.
