Pipe Specification

This section describes the Pipe Specification table and how you can customize it.

This page discusses:

Overview

This section provides a brief overview of the Pipe Specification table.

The Pipe Specification table allows you to create filters between parts and a pipe specification; it lists pipe attributes for one specification. When searching for parts in the database, the system uses this table as an additional layer of filtration.

In Data Setup, assign this definition table to:

  • The Pipe Specification item in the resource table of Piping/Tubing Discipline Resources.
  • The value of Pipe Specification in the Criteria column is set to the name of the specification (for example Pipe Specification = CS150R).

When users search catalogs and chapters for parts, there are three kinds of filters:

  • The Standard value is blank: all values appear.
  • The Standard value is set to a precise value: only parts that have this value appear.
  • The Standard value is set to Unset: only parts that have a Standard keyword value equal to NULL appear.

Rule Customization

This section describes the customization options of the Pipe Specification table.

Here is a typical Pipe Specification table:

V_SubPartType(string) V_NominalSize(string) V_Standard(string) V_EndStyle(string) V_Rating(string)

Blind Flange 5in ASTL RAISED FACE 300#
Blind Flange 6in ASTL RAISED FACE 300#

To customize the table, enter a line in the spreadsheet for standard and nominal size for every subpart type that you use.

If you want to define additional restrictions (criteria for parts queries), you can add as many columns you want to the file. Each column is based on piping part attributes.

Sample Resource File

This section explains where to find the sample resource file.

The default location of XXX_XXX.xls is

..\startup\EquipmentAndSystems\Piping\Specification\

and then the relevant specification, such as SS150R.
