Materials

A material is a PLM object that represents a physical matter and its properties. In Product Perception Experience, a material is considered as a resource. You can create and edit covering materials.

To configure, manipulate, and apply a material, you must expose it in the experience. The exposed material is called experience material.

In the experience, you will only work with experience materials.

This page discusses:

Covering Material Application

You need to understand the basic concepts about covering materials application.

An experience material appears only once in the tree, under the Materials node. However, you can apply the material to several actors.

Each material application has a set of properties that define how the material is applied.

If you insert a product and then expose all its materials, the material applied to the highest actor in the hierarchy takes priority.

If you create and apply a material, the newest material takes priority over existing applied materials.

Material Palette

The Material Palette is a panel that lists all exposed materials of an experience.

In this panel, you can also select and apply a material to an object.
