Managing Logical Groups

You can define groups in multivalued cells by assigning group numbers. You can then manage these logical groups and sort them. In the following scenario, requirements and supporting materials are associated with a function named: Provide Dynamic Swivel Light. The studied columns can contain requirements and documents. The behavior is the same for other scenarios.

Before you begin:
  • At least, the two columns of the template applied to a table must have a group type name associated with. These columns are: Requirement and Supporting material.
  • In Requirements, create the following requirements:
    • Requirement1: REQ_011
    • Requirement2: REQ_015
    • Requirement3: REQ_042
  • In Bookmark Editor, insert the following documents:
    • Document1: STD01
    • Document2: STD02

About Logical Groups
  1. In the cell of the first line and the Requirement column, drag Requirement1 and Requirement2.
A new group number is computed and assigned to each dragged requirement. It is displayed in the upper-left side of the tile. In this scenario, the first number is 1 and the other is 2.
  2. In the cell of the first line and the Supporting material column, drag Document1 and Document2.
In this scenario, the computed group names are 3 and 4.

  3. To associate the requirements with the supporting materials using groups:
    1. Click number 4 to edit and change the number of the group to 1, and then press Enter.
The tile takes the first position in the cell.
    2. Click number 3 to edit and change the number of the group to 2, and then press Enter.
After each change, the tiles are reordered in ascending order.
  4. Drag Requirement3 into the requirement cell.
It is assigned the group number 3.
  5. Click number 3 and enter 2.
Two requirements are now associated with a supporting material.
