ASIL Determination

An Automative Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) is determined for each hazardous event using the severity, exposure, and controllability values using the above table.

Four ASILs are defined A, B, C, and D. A is the lowest safety integrity level and D is the highest one. In addition to these ASILs, QM (quality management) indicates that no requirement complying with ISO 26262 is required.

Note: No ASIL assignment is required for any hazard assigned to 0. For example, this value may be used for exposure when situations are considered to be unusual.
