Manage Inconsistent Item-Product Scopes

Reconnecting or Resolving an Inconsistent Item-Product Scope

An inconsistent scope can be a broken scope or a resolved scope. You can reconnect an Inconsistent Item-Product scope link between a product and an item.

Before you begin: Open your content, which must have product and Manufacturing Assembly structures with an inconsistent Item-Product scope between the root item and the root product.
  1. Click Manage Inconsistent Item-Product Scopes .
The Manage Inconsistent Item-Product Scopes panel appears and lists the products with inconsistent Item-Product scopes.
Tip: To facilitate navigation, click either:
    • Center Tree on Product to center the tree on the implemented or candidate product.
    • Center Tree on Item to center the tree on the item.
  2. Click a command under Suggestion to Perform:
    • Replace by New Revision: creates a new revision of the item and replaces the item with the new instance.
    • Replace by New: duplicates the item and replaces the item with the new instance.
    • Replace by Existing: replaces the item with the item proposed by the business logic.
    • Reroute Only: reroutes the item scope link on the product. The item is not replaced in this case.
    • Ignore: the system does nothing for this item.
    • Replace by New Branch: creates a new branch of the item and replaces the item with the new instance.
    • Remove Instance: removes (or evolves) the instance.

The action is performed according to your selection.

  3. Click Perform action on selected lines.
From the selection, the system searches for an inconsistent scope and the panel is updated according to the following rules:
    • If the system does not find inconsistent scopes, it proceeds recursively onto the lower levels.

When managing a level, the system also searches onto the lower levels and if it finds an inconsistent scope, it enables the Analyze Lower Levels command.

Click Analyze Lower Levels to displays the inconsistent scopes in the list. This allows you to manage these links.

    • When no inconsistent Item-Product scope remains, this message appears: No more inconsistent item-product scopes.
    • If inconsistent Item-Product scopes remain, this message appears: Some inconsistent item-product scopes are remaining.
