Create the Manufacturing Assembly Structure

In this step, you will create the Manufacturing Assembly structure by inserting predecessor Manufacturing Assemblies.

  1. From the Authoring section of the action bar, double-click Manufacturing Assembly .

    Tip: The command remains active and lets you create several Manufacturing Assemblies of the selected type.

  2. Click the root Manufacturing Assembly tile once.
    A Manufacturing Assembly tile is created in the graph. A Data Requirement link is created from the new Manufacturing Assembly to the root Manufacturing Assembly.

    In this scenario, the new Manufacturing Assembly can be considered as being at the "first level" in the graph.

  3. Click the first-level Manufacturing Assembly twice.
    Two Manufacturing Assemblies are created on a "second level" in the graph.
  4. Click one of the second-level Manufacturing Assemblies twice.
    Two Manufacturing Assemblies are created on a "third level" in the graph.

    The item structure is complete for the scenario.

  5. Select Manufacturing Assembly again to deactivate the command.
  6. Right-click the Manufacturing Assembly tile on the "first level" and select Properties.
    The Properties dialog box appears.
  7. Enter an appropriate name (ManufacturingAssemblyL1, for example) for the Manufacturing Assembly in the Manufacturing Assembly and Instance tabs.
  8. In the same way, enter appropriate names for the other Manufacturing Assemblies.
