Path Finder

The Path Finder options let you customize the default settings of the Find and Optimize tab in the Path Finder panel for Assembly Path Optimization.

This page discusses:

Path Finder

Visual feedback during computation
This option specifies the default setting for the Visual feedback during computation option in the Path Finder panel:
  • If the option is selected, graphic feedback is displayed during track computation according to the selected mode:
    • Points Only: Transient T-Points are displayed as red dots along the track.
    • Moving Objects Only: Moving objects are displayed at different positions along the track.
    • All: Moving objects are displayed at different positions and transient T-Points are displayed as red dots along the track.
  • If the option is cleared, no graphic feedback is displayed during Track computation.

By default, this option is selected with the Points Only mode.

Display find track complexity level
This option specifies the default setting for the Display find track complexity level option in the Path Finder panel.

By default, this option is not selected.

Maximum computation time
This option specifies the maximum computation time for the Find Collision-Free Track command. Track computation is stopped if it exceeds the specified time. The track is not updated and a message is issued to indicate that the computation has been stopped because the maximum time is reached.

By default, this option is not selected.

Find Track Default Mode

Quality
This option specifies the default setting for the Find Track: Quality option in the Path Finder panel.

By default, the quality is specified to medium.

Extract points in collision before finding track
This option specifies the default setting for the Extract points in collision before finding track option in the Path Finder panel.

By default, this option is selected.

Optimize after finding track
This option specifies the default setting for the Optimize after finding track option in the Path Finder panel.

By default, this option is not selected.

Define target area at end point
This option specifies the default setting for the Define target area at end point option in the Path Finder panel.

By default, this option is not selected.

Compute Trajectory up to end point
This option specifies the default setting for the Compute Trajectory up to end point option in the Path Finder panel.
Note: This option is available only if the Define target area at end point option is selected.

By default, this option is not selected.

Show computation time
This option specifies, while the Find Track command is active, whether the computation time is displayed:
  • If the option is selected, the computation time is displayed.
  • If the option is cleared, the computation time is not displayed.

By default, this option is selected.

Optimization Default Mode

Quality
This option specifies the default setting for the Optimize Track: Quality option in the Path Finder panel.

By default, the quality is specified to medium.

Miscellaneous

Automatic T-Point renaming at computation
After track computation using the Find Collision-Free Track or Optimize Track command, all T-Points (from the first track point to the last one) are renamed starting from 1 up to the number of points. If a point has been manually renamed, this name is kept as is: it is not overloaded by automatic renaming.

By default, this option is selected.

Minimum distance computation
This option drives minimum distance computation. It displays the following values, associated with the clash status:
  • If there is no clash, the real distance value between Moving Objects and Context Objects.
  • If there is a clash, the real penetration value between Moving Objects and Context Objects.
Two modes of distance computation are available:
  • Automatic: If this mode is selected, the minimum distance or penetration values are always computed, displayed, and updated after each Track computation or 3D scene change.
  • On demand: If this mode is selected, the Compute minimum distance command is added to the Path Finder panel. If the command is used, the distance or penetration values are computed and displayed in the clash column for each T-Point.
Notes:

If the minimum distance values are already displayed, they disappear in case the of:

  • 3D scene change with the hiding or showing of an object
  • Track computation with Find Track or Optimize.
  • Selecting or clearing the Enable inclusion detection for collision option.

If a T-Point is created, modified, or deleted:

  • When the minimum distance values are displayed, they are kept. In the case of T-Point creation or modification, the new distance is automatically computed and displayed for the new or modified T-Point even if the On-demand mode is selected.
  • When the minimum distance values are not displayed, they still are not displayed, and no distance value is displayed for the new or modified T-Point.

By default, the On Demand mode is selected.

Extract Default Mode

Maximum Radius
This option specifies a default maximum radius for the Any Direction option of the Extract command. The Extract command is accessible in the Track Points context toolbar.

By default, the value is specified to 10mm.
