DXF 2D

The DXF 2D options let you customize the import and export of DXF 2D files for Converter for IGES.

This page discusses:

Import

Standards
  • Drafting: Defines the drawing representation to which the DXF/DWG data are imported.
  • DXF: Defines how AutoCAD attributes that do not exist in Dassault Systèmes are imported.

By default,

  • the Drafting standard is specified to ISO.
  • the DXF standard depends on the customization made by your administrator.

Unit of the file
Defines the unit used to import DXF 2D data.

By default, Unit of the file is specified to Automatic, resulting in the best possible drawing.

Paper Spaces in Background
Places paper spaces in the background view.

By default, Paper Spaces in Background is not selected.

Keep Model Space
Keeps the entire model space in its own sheet.

By default, Keep Model Space is not selected.

Create end points
Defines when end points(used to modify or stretch geometry) are created:
  • Never
  • For few entities
  • Always.

By default, Create end points is specified to Never.

Convert dimensions as
Defines how dimensions are converted:
  • Dimensions
  • Details
  • Geometry.

By default, Convert dimensions as is specified to Geometry.

Convert viewports content as
Defines how viewports content is converted:
  • Details
  • Geometry.

By default, Convert viewports content as is specified to Geometry.

Map DXF Layers with 2D Layout for 3D Design Sheets
  • Available only for 2D Layout for 3D Design, using Import From File... command.
  • Maps geometries and annotations with2D Layout for 3D Design sheets, from the number of the layer the geometries and annotations belong to.

By default, Map DXF Layers with 2D Layout for 3D Design Sheets is selected.

Map DXF Layers with mapping table
Available only for import in Drafting.

Imports layers of geometries and annotations of DXF entities as defined in the layer-mapping table.

The layer-mapping table is defined in the DXF standard xml file.

Notes:
  • If no layer-mapping table exists yet in DXF-mapping standards, selecting this option creates an xml file in the report directory, to be used as a mapping model file.
  • If you map a visible imported layer to an invisible layer, you need to modify the filter to see it.
  • If the definition of the layer of an entity is not found in the mapping table, the entity and layer are created without mapping (The layer is imported as if the option was not selected.)
  • You cannot modify the name of a layer after import.
  • The definition order in a mapping table is important: When several definitions exist for the same layer, the first one is considered.

By default, Map DXF Layers with mapping table is not selected.

Export

Standards - DXF
Defines the mapping of mapping pattern between Dassault Systèmes and DXF.

By default, the DXF standard provided by Dassault Systèmes is selected.

Version
Defines the DXF/DWG version used for export.

By default, Version is specified to DXF/DWG 2013.

Exported sheets
Defines which sheets are exported:
  • All
  • Only current.

By default, Exported sheets is specified to All.

Export mode
Defines the export mode:
  • Semantic
  • Graphic.

By default, Export mode is specified to Graphic.

Semantic Preferences
Becomes available when Export mode is specified to Semantic

By default,

  • Export dimensions as Dimensions is not selected.
  • Export blocks is specified to One level.
  • Export Layer number is specified to Number.
  • Export View as Viewport is not selected.
