Drawing Creation

Standard
Select the standard that is to be used when creating drawings.

By default, the ISO standard is selected.

Important: If you choose a standard other than the default one when defining a new drawing sheet in the Drawing / Representation DS dialog box, then the value displayed in the Standard box is modified accordingly.
Insert drawing in represented product or part
Select this check box to define whether a newly created drawing must be inserted in its product structure or not.

This check box is available for selection only if the Insert drawing in represented product or part check box is selected.

  • When this check box is selected, a drawing is reusable, by default, if it is created by one of the following methods:
    • In the top bar, select Add > Content > Drawing.
    • From the Compass, click 3D Modeling Apps and select Drafting.
    • From an existing 2D layout using the batch utility method.
  • If you right-click a product in the tree, and select Insert > Drawing, then a new drawing is not reusable, by default, even if this check box is selected,
See 3D Modeling Apps : Mechanical Systems: Drafting User's Guide: Managing Drawing Representation: Generating a New Drawing.
Always check that the range of the drawing matches the represented product
Select this check box to check whether the range saved as a preference and that is to be used for creating a new drawing representation, is compatible with the active product, 3D part, or 2D layout.
A warning message appears if the drawing range does not match with the active product, 3D part, or 2D layout.
