If the selection can define either a Surface Edge – Surface-Edge or a matching into the interior with Surface Edge – Surface/Face Interior or Surface Edge – Curve Interior matching type, Surface Edge – Surface-Edge matching type has priority.
Selection Behavior
Controls the behavior of selection tables which are activated when selecting surface elements lying on top of each other in the view plane.

Independent from shading, the selection table contains the element lying on the top and all underlying elements near to the top element, that is the elements are filtered according to their depth in the screen view.
All till shaded
The selection table contains all elements with wireframe display including the first shaded element, that is all elements lying under the first shaded element are not offered.

Clicking a surface edge selects the edge.
