Parameters and Relations

This document explains how to customize Knowledge options for Knowledge products.

This page discusses:

Parameters Tree View

There are two types of items that you can display in the tree.

Display values in the specification tree

Displays the parameter values in the tree.

Display formulas in the specification tree

Displays the formulas constraining the parameter in the tree.

Surround parameters names with simple quotes
Lets you insert quotes before and after parameter names.

Relations Update in 3D Shape Context

You can choose, when creating the relation, if it will be synchronous (i.e. the evaluation will be launched as soon as one of its parameters is modified) or asynchronous (i.e. the evaluation will be launched when the Part is updated). Each relation can therefore be synchronous or asynchronous.

Enable the creation of synchronous relations

Enables you to create synchronous relations, that is relations that will be immediately updated if one of their parameters/inputs is modified. Only relations based on parameters can be synchronous.

Associate the evaluation of relations with the global update

Enables you to associate the evaluation of asynchronous relations with the global update. Relations can be asynchronous for two reasons:

  • You want the relations to be asynchronous.
  • The relation contains measures.
  • Relations based on parameters: can be synchronous or asynchronous.
  • Relations based on geometry: can only be asynchronous.
  • Relations based on parameters and on geometry: For the part of the relations containing parameters, you decide if you want the update to be synchronous or not. For the other part of the relations, the update occurs when the global update is launched.
Important: You can also decide if already existing relations are synchronous or asynchronous.
Do not ask for confirmation or automatic update when creating a synchronous relation
Enables you not do display the Automatic Update confirmation dialog box when creating formulas and when Creation of synchronous relations and Creation of relations evaluated during the global update are enabled.
Note: This option is dimmed if Creation of synchronous relations and Creation of relations evaluated during the global update are not enabled.

Design Tables

There are two types of items that you can set up.

Automatic synchronization when loading pointed representation

When loading a model containing user design tables, if the design table files have been modified and the external file data is contained in the model, the design table will be synchronized automatically if this option is selected.

Interactive synchronization when loading pointed representation

When loading a model containing user design tables whose external source file was deleted, this option enables you to select a new source file or to save the data contained in the design tables in a new file.

Manual Synchronization

When loading a model containing user Design Tables, if the design table files have been modified and the external file data is contained in the model, the design table will be synchronized if this option is selected. To synchronize both files, right-click the design table in the tree, and select DesignTable object>Synchronize or Edit>Links.

Copy data into Model

The data contained in the external source file will be copied into the model.

Allow the user to retrieve Representations instead of PLM documents
Prevents the user from creating Design Tables from files. The From File tab is no longer available in the Object Selection dialog box.
