Visualization

The Visualization options let you customize visualization-related settings for Manufacturing Finder.

This page discusses:

Manufactured Item in the 3D area

Display Tiles
When this option is selected, the 3D representation of a manufactured item on a turntable shows a tile with an icon corresponding to the Manufactured Item type.
Display Tiles with Pictures
When the option is selected and if a picture has been defined on a manufactured item, the 3D representation on a manufactured item on a turntable shows a tile with the defined picture.
Display Product 3D
When the option is selected, the 3D representation on a manufactured item on a turntable shows the materialized or implemented Product 3D data.

By default, the Display Tiles option is selected.

System & Operation in the 3D area

Display Tiles
When this option is selected, the 3D representation of a system or an operation on a turntable shows a tile with an icon corresponding to the System or Operation type.
Display Tiles with Pictures
When the option is selected and if a picture has been defined on a system or an operation, the 3D representation on a system or an operation on a turntable shows a tile with the defined picture.

By default, the Display Tiles option is selected.

Note: The behavior for work instructions is similar to operations for 3D representation display.

Navigation in 3D area

Display geometry

This option enables you to visualize the geometry of the structure in the 3D area.

When the option is not selected, no geometry is displayed: only the tree structure is displayed. This can improve performance.

By default, the check box is selected.

Partial outer skin

This option enables you to visualize a partial indexed simplified geometry of the structure in the 3D area. Only the outer skin of the structure is displayed with a variable quality. Move the quality slider to modify the number of rays intersecting the geometry to visualize. The higher the number, the less partial the geometry. Since the outer skin is computed by index that may not be up-to-date, the displayed geometry might not exactly represent the design structure but it is faster to load.

When the option is not selected, no geometry is displayed in the 3D area until the tree is expanded down to a Representation level.

Important:
  • On the Cloud, this functionality is not supported.
  • Configuration filters and security attributes will be taken into account for the 3D Thumbnails that are displayed for a given user.
Note: Response time will not be as fast as when using 3D Thumbnails generated by the Thumbnail Builder and stored on the server.

Quality
This option enables you to set the quality setting for the Display geometry option:
  • Quality 1: Fast performance, low quality.

  • Quality 3: Average performance, average quality (default value).

  • Quality 10: Slow performance, high quality.

Important: The maximum quality setting 10 does not guarantee that all parts will be loaded in the 3D. Use the Expand All command on the products that you want to be completely loaded.

By default, the quality is set to 5.

Use simplified geometry when the outer skin is unavailable

Check the box to visualize the simplified geometry of the structure when its outer skin is not yet computed by index.

Clear the box to display no geometry in the 3D area when the outer skin is not yet available.

By default, this option is activated.

Selection in the 3D area

Prefer the selection of father References instead of Representations

This option enables you to select parent references instead of representations in the 3D area.

By default, the check box is not selected.

3DSearch

Important: On the cloud, this functionality is not supported.
Maximum number of results before warning
This option enables you to enter the maximum number of Search results before a warning is displayed (maximum: 10000).

By default, the value is set to 1000.

Reduce visualization flickering
This option enables you to reduce the visual flickering created by overlapping zones competing for visual representation.

The flickering occurs because two or more polygons have similar values in the z-buffer, therefore one polygon "wins" the z test, then another polygon wins the test, and so on. The overall effect is a flickering of polygons "fighting" to color the screen pixels.

Note: In some exceptional cases, the flickering may not be entirely eliminated.

By default, the check box is not selected.

3D Navigation Turntables

Each time you navigate the structure of a model in the tree or in the 3D, two actions can be launched:

  • an animation can be launched that creates a transition from the current viewpoint to the new viewpoint
  • A reframe can be launched on the viewpoint so as to center objects that have been selected

Automatic reframe

This option enables you to activate the automatic reframing of selected objects in the 3D.

By default, the check box is selected.

Animation during navigation

This option enables you to have an animation applied during the transition from one viewpoint to the next.

By default, the check box is selected.
