Tablet Support

The Tablet Support options let you customize pad options.

This page discusses:

Transformation Pad

Activate Transformation Pad

Displays the pad in the work area (on the right side by default).

By default, this option is selected when working with a Tablet PC. Otherwise, it is cleared.

Action on double-click

Lets you select the action to be triggered when double-clicking.

  • Open option panel opens the Tablet Support dialog box directly in the work area. You can then modify your pad options without having to re-access the Tablet Support tab.
  • Reframe zooms in or out to fit all the geometry into the available space
  • Center rotation centers the geometry at a specific location. This lets you define the point located at the center of the screen as the rotation center at the time you double-click in the pad.

    This option works as follows:

    • 1. Open any object.
    • 2. Click the middle mouse button to center the view on another object.
    • 3. Use the rotation widget in the pad: the object opened in step 1 rotates around the object you selected in the step 2.
    • 4. Move the object so that another object is located at the center of the screen.
    • 5. Double-click any widget of the pad.
    • 6. Use the rotation widget in the pad: the object rotates around the object selected in step 5.

  • No action means that no action is performed when double-clicking. This can be useful, for example, to avoid involuntary actions when manipulating the Tablet Pen.
Pad Size

Lets you set the size of the pad using the slider. You can choose a value comprised between 1 and 15.

By default, the pad size is set to 5.

Pad Transparency

Lets you define how transparent the pad is: the higher the value, the more transparent the pad.

By default, the transparency is set to 0.

Pad Position

Lets you position the pad by selecting the appropriate option.

By default, the pad is located to the right part of the screen.

Gesture Pad

Activate Gesture Pad

Displays the gesture pad in the work area. It is displayed only after clicking OK.

A gesture is a set of strokes that are used as keyboard shortcuts. The gesture pad captures the gestures you draw and translates them into keyboard shortcuts for standard commands such as Cut, Copy or Delete.

By default, this functionality is available only when working with a Windows XP Tablet PC Edition and in that case, it is already selected.

Customize command mapping
Some gestures are already associated to standard commands.
  • Delete
  • Copy
  • Cut.

When you draw a gesture in the gesture pad, the associated command is launched. But you can modify the command mapping by clicking Customize command mapping....

In the Customize command mapping... dialog box, select any symbol with the value [None], and then assign it a command. Selecting a symbol opens the Command Chooser which lets you choose among a list of commands the command to be associated with the selected symbol.

You can also enter a search string in the Search Filter box to restrict your search to the desired characters and find a command more quickly.

Important: You can use neither special characters (such as *), nor operators (+, &, -) to filter your search.

When finished mapping your commands, click OK to validate and close the Command Chooser then Close to close the Customize command mapping... dialog box.

Pad Size
Lets you set the size of the gesture pad using the slider. You can choose a value comprised between 1 and 15.
Pad Transparency

Lets you define how transparent the gesture pad is. The higher the value, the more transparent the pad.

Pad Position
