Workload Balancing

The Workload Balancing options let you customize workload display and computation for Planning Structure.

This page discusses:

Display of Columns in Workload Balancing

This option lets you display columns in the Workload Balancing panel for operations of any level.

Leaf systems
For a selected system, one column is displayed in the panel for each leaf system that includes operations.
Operations
For a selected operation, one column is displayed in the panel for each operation that includes operations, according to the level specified in the Level from leaf system box.

By default, the Leaf systems option is selected.

Value Added Display

Display value added ratio on system

Select this option to display a "value added" bar on top of the system cycle bar. The value added is an attribute that can be set on each operation of the system. You can specify the color of this bar by selecting one of the proposed colors. By default, the bar is yellow.

Note: This option cannot be selected if the Display value added categories from Time Analysis on system option is already selected.

By default, the option is not selected.

Display value added categories from time analysis on system

Select this option to display bars for value added categories in the Workload Balancing bar chart. The value added categories can be set on the time analysis of an operation. The total value for each category is computed for all the operations in the system.

Note: This option cannot be selected if the Display value added ratio on system option is already selected.

By default, the option box is not selected.

Drifting

Drifting operation
This option lets you choose a color to display drifting operations in the Workload Balancing panel.

Small Duration

Color for System/Operation of zero duration
This option lets you choose a color to display systems and operations with no duration, defined in the Workload Balancing and Resource Balancing panels.
Scale for System/Operation of zero duration
This option lets you specify a size for the rectangles that identify operations with no duration defined, in the Workload Balancing and Resource Balancing panels.

By default, the scale is 0.25.

Computation of Requested Resources

Computation of requested resources
When the total operation time is superior to the cycle time, this option computes the actual number of requested resources required to meet the cycle time.

By default, the check box is selected.

Workload Synthesis

This option lets you choose a color for the Maximum, Average, and Minimum system time displayed in the product configuration synthesis.

Sequence Mode for Workload Balancing

Select the option:

Precedence / Product flow mode
When this option is selected, operations are displayed in the Workload Balancing bar chart based on precedence constraints. In case of same precedence, they are displayed based on product flows.
Important: This mode does not support the following types of links:
  • Start-start links
  • End-end links
  • End-start links
Start time / tree order mode
When this option is selected, operations in the Workload Balancing bar chart based on start time. In case of same start time, they are displayed based on tree order.

This mode supports all types of links between operations.

By default, the Precedence / Product flow mode option is selected.
