Sheet Metal

The Sheet Metal options let you customize the two methods used for File-based Design Import.

Deprecated Features

Launch FBDI Error
Select this option to block the FBDI process if the V5 sheet metal parts to import contain deprecated features.

An error message appears and indicates that the part cannot be migrated. To be able to perform the import, refer to the Manual Import method described in Sheet Metal Design File-based Design Import.

By default, this option is cleared.

Keep folded geometry, delete only deprecated sheetmetal features

Select this option to import V5 sheet metal parts containing deprecated features. They are automatically replaced by solid features during the import.

By default, this option is selected.

Note that when choosing this method:

  • Only folded volume geometries will be copied in their corresponding representations.
  • A copy as result will be done only for bodies containing deprecated Sheetmetal features.
  • A datum feature is created. Therefore, all geometry links will be broken.
  • Only all deprecated sheet metal features will be deleted during the import process.
  • An Import Report dialog box lets you know which features have been deleted.

As features with specifications are replaced by a solid, the following information is lost:

  • Unfolded view
  • Knowledge parameters linked to deleted features
  • Features that have an update error
  • Parts that are not updated
  • Links related to deleted objects
