Import

The Import options let you customize import of files for 3D Printing Preparation and 3D Printing.

This page discusses:

Main Options

Grouped
Specifies how several files are imported:
  • Select the Grouped check box to group the files in one output feature.
  • Clear the Grouped check box to create one feature for each imported file.

By default, Grouped is not selected.

Sampling (%)
Defines the percentage of points or scans or grids that are read from the digit file.
Note: The Sampling percentage is not relevant to formats related to mesh entities (e.g. STL format).

By default, Sampling is set to 100%

Scale factor
Defines the scale factor to apply to the imported data.

By default, Scale factor is set to 1.

File unit
Defines the unit used to import the file.

By default, File unit is set to Millimeter (mm).

ASCII User Format Options

Format Description File
Specifies the file used to define the user format.

ASCII free options

Start scan, End scan
Applies to scan. Enter this information whenever you know it.
Tip: Perceptron (ASCII) files can be imported by selecting the ASCII free format and setting the Delimiters for Start scan and End scan to LH (do not forget a blank before LH).

By default, Start scan and End scan are not set.

Atos Options

Minimal Point Quality
Cleans the file from invalid points. The quality value of a point lies between 0 and 255 (low to high). Choose a value to ignore points below that value.

By default, Minimal point quality is set to 0.

Gom-3d options

Minimal Point Quality
Cleans the file from invalid points. The quality value of a point lies between 0 and 255 (low to high). Choose a value to ignore points below that value.

By default, Minimal point quality is set to 0.

Create facets
Creates the facets (triangles) of the imported mesh.

By default, Create facets is selected.

STL Options

Create facets
Creates the facets (triangles) of the imported mesh.

By default, Create facets is selected.

Outwards orientation
Orients the normals of a closed mesh towards the outside, thus preventing visualization issues.

By default, Outwards orientation is selected.
