Computed Data

The Computed Data options let you customize the default density, error margin, and exact geometry when computing weight for Weight and Balance.

This page discusses:

Default Density

Specify the default density to use when computing weight, when no material has been assigned to a part.

Note: The density unit is defined in Me > Preferences > Parameters and Measure > Units tab.

By default, The density used is that of steel, that is to say 7770kg/m3.

Automatic margin applied [% of the weight]

Specify the error margin that is automatically applied when computing the weight of a part.

Note: The error margin is specified as a percentage of the computed weight.

When computing the global weight of the assembly, the error margin applied to each part is then taken into account to compute the global error margin.

By default, The error margin is set to 5% of the computed weight.

Automatic CoG tolerance applied [% of the bounding box dimension]

Computed data are products or parts, which have the weight information calculated from the geometry and material applied. Therefore, for all computed products/parts, the automatic center of gravity tolerance is calculated as the % given the option.

Force the most accurate weight computation by loading the most precise geometry

Select this check box if you want to load the exact geometry using the Design mode. This provides the most accurate weight results, but the computation process may be time-consuming in the case of large assemblies.

If you do not select the check box, the geometry using the CGR format (Graphical Representation) is loaded. CGR corresponds to a data format containing a graphical representation of the geometry only, which is available with the Visualization mode (as opposed to the exact geometry, which is available with the Design mode.) With CGR, only the external appearance of the component is used and displayed; the geometry is not available. In this case, the calculation process is significantly faster in the case of large assemblies, however, the error margin is higher.

By default, this check box is cleared.

Force to take into account only main body for weight computation

Select this check box if you want to specify that the weight is computed on the main body only.

In some parts, there are multiple part bodies (there is a provision to add multiple part bodies in the representation level.) But the default part body, which gets created during part creation is labeled as the main part body. Therefore, when this setting is selected, you can only compute the weight of features available inside the main part body. Usually multiple part bodies are used to store different Geometrical entities like geometric points, supporting curves, pad features used for positioning. And these part bodies are ignored in weight computation.

By default, this check box is cleared.
