Local Save & Exit

The Local Save & Exit options let you customize auto exit, planned exits and automatic local save.

Auto Exit

Activate automatic exit

Lets you specify the period of inactivity after which 3DEXPERIENCE exits automatically. You cannot enter a value lower than two minutes.

A warning message will be displayed:

  • During your 3DEXPERIENCE session warning you that the session will be terminated in xxx minutes.
  • In front all the Windows applications to warn you about the auto exit

If 3DEXPERIENCE exits, the active command is cancelled and a local save (if activated) is performed before 3DEXPERIENCE exits.

Local Save

The local save capability enables you to save locally, on your disk drive, authoring content loaded in a session but not committed in the database. For more information, see 3DEXPERIENCE Native Apps: Native Apps Advanced: Saving: About Saving: Local Save and Restore.

The Local save is activated message confirms that the local save capability is activated.

Activate automatic save at regular intervals

Automatically performs a local save at time intervals that you specify in the Inactivity time before exit box (in minutes). Once the specified time is reached, the software attempts to perform a local save immediately, if possible. Whether an immediate local save is possible or not depends on the current command status and whether it can be interrupted or not, given that by default commands cannot be interrupted, as indicated in the following table:

Command StatusLocal Save Response
No active commandA local save is started immediately
Active command can be interruptedA local save is started immediately
Active command cannot be interruptedThe system waits for the current command to terminate before starting the local save

Activate automatic save after each command

Automatically performs a local save when you exist any main command (a command may contain sub-commands). This is the safest method of avoiding content loss, but the worst one for performance.

Advanced automatic save

Automatically switches between the automatic save after each command mode and the automatic save at regular intervals mode. This option is automatically activated when the two other options are activated, as performing a local save of large representations is not always transparent and impacts performance.

Note: Setting the Advance option automatically activates two options and greys out the other two options.

You can specify the limit size (50MB by default) at which the system switches between the two modes:

  • If the size of modified content is less than the limit size, the local save is performed after each command.
  • If the size of modified content is higher than the limit size, the local save is performed every xxx minutes.

The size is based on the disk space occupied by stored content already modified.

The following message will inform that the mode has been switched from automatic save after each command mode to the automatic save at regular intervalsmode:

Local save mode has been switched to time interval (from Advance mode option settings)

and from the automatic save at regular intervals mode to the automatic save after each command mode:

Local save mode has been switched to after each command (from Advance mode option settings)

Important: Even if none of the two options is checked, the local save is activated. A local save is performed when saving partially a session (that is when performing a save with excluded content).

Planned Exit

Activate planned exit

Lets you specify a predefined date and time at which the 3DEXPERIENCE session will automatically exit.

Five minutes before the exit, the Planned Exit dialog box and displays the warning message that you specify in the Warning message field. You can either click Cancel to cancel the exit, or OK to dismiss the dialog box and perform other actions before the exit. If 3DEXPERIENCE exits, the active command is cancelled and a local save (if activated) is performed before the exit.
