Simulation

The Simulation options let you customize simulation settings for Additive Manufacturing Apps Common Services.

This page discusses:

Tool Path Display

Display Tool path during machine simulation
Make the tool path visible while running the machine simulation commands.

By default, this check box is cleared.

Integrated Material Deposition/Removal

Enable material removal computation during machine simulation
Select this check box to:
  • Allow the computation of the material deposition/removal during the simulation.
  • Make the Integrated Material Removal options available.

When selected, the rest of the commands in this section are activated. This option is time and memory consuming.

By default, this check box is cleared.

Synchronize material removal with simulation steps
Synchronizes the material removal with the simulation steps. This option is applied to a machine simulation based either on the tool path or NC code and impacts the visualization only. The material removed is visualized between the tool path points according to the simulation step.

By default, The simulation step is set to 0.1s.

Enable material deposition/remove back during backward simulation
Select to allow adding back material removed during backward simulation, and to allow the modification of Max steps backward.

By default, this check box is cleared.

Enable detailed clash results

Select to allow detailed clash result computation, such as tool sweep, during simulation.

By default, this check box is selected.

Compute volume information for each activity

Used for measurement on the machined stock. Clear this option to avoid simulating unnecessary items and to reduce simulation computation time. When you clear this option, the Volume section in the Measure dialog box is not visible.

By default, this check box is selected.

Save stock result with all information

Stores material removal stock results along with information like color, machining activity/tool name, and geometry information.

Clash Detection

Merge clashes in fault list

Automatically merges clashes. Merging automatically causes issues in machining with robots and with drilling-riveting since movements in these applications are very large, so it is important to report clashes all along the movements.

By default, this check box is selected.

Enable Sweep Based Continuous Clash Detection
Enables or disables sweep based continuous clash detection for all clash pairs.
Save the Fault List in Database
Synchronizes and saves generated results of the command Simulate and generate resultsin the database.
Probes Selection
Enables or disables machine clash and stock clash probes.

Machine Simulation

Enable machine kinematics

Select to allow machine kinematics during machine simulation.

By default, this check box is selected.

ISO Code Simulation

NC code simulation

Select to allow NC code-based simulation.

By default, this check box is cleared.

By default, this check box is cleared.

Intermediate Simulation Result

Update automatically intermediate simulation results
Select this check box to allow the automatic update of intermediate stock following the results of a simulation.

By default, this check box is cleared.

Compute Intermediate Simulation Results for Each Activity

Automatically saves stocks on the hard disk drive. When you clear this option, the behavior of Update Intermediate Simulation Results is changed so only the last stock is saved and not all the stocks from the simulation. For large stocks, you must clear this option to reduce the time it takes to save simulation results.

By default, this check box is selected.

Save Intermediate Simulation Results in Database
Automatically saves the intermediate simulation results in database. The results are then available to read in database.

By default, this check box is cleared.

Other

Maximum distance between steps
Lets you specify the maximum distance between simulation steps.

By default, The maximum distance is set to 10.00mm.

Stop when errors exceed

Lets you specify a value to set up a stop condition.

By default, this check box is cleared.

Stop at tool change

Stops simulation at every tool change when checked. Applicable in NC code simulation.
