Formboard

The formboard options let you customize the formboard process for Electrical Manufacturing Preparation.

This page discusses:

Generate Layout

Component orientation
  • Devices
Defines how branches are laid out during the formboard generation process. The following options are available:
    • Closest preferred plane: Maintains branches at junction, supports, and devices on optimized plane in their respective orientation with harness data after flattening. When you select this option, intermediate devices are placed at appropriate locations.

To optimize the layout, junctions and devices can be rotated through the angle of 180 degree, and supports can be rotated through 90 degree.

By default, this option is selected.

    • Component torsion free: Maintains the tangency of the branches and straightens the branches (torsion-free harness) without being flattened on the same plane.
  • Support
Lets you specify the criteria for support orientation. The following options are available:
    • Rounding orientation angle closest to 45 degree: By default, this option is selected.
    • Rounding orientation angle closest to 90 degree
    • Rounding orientation angle closest to 180 degree
    • Torsion free
  • T-shape junction
Identification angle: Lets you specify the maximum angle allowed around the perpendicular to the backbone for T branches. Beyond this value, the junction cannot be identified as a T-shape junction.

By default, the identification angle is 10 deg.

Tangency and shape at device junction
Keep branch definition: keeps the arrangement of branches at a device junction.

By default, this check box is cleared.

Offset from global xy plane
Specifies the distance separating the laid-out harness from the plane.

By default, the Distance value is 20 mm.
