General

The General options let you customize the general properties for Fastening.

This page discusses:

Standard Management

Directory/Project Resource Management
Defines the way fastener standards are managed.
If you select Project Resource Management, the Standard Directory field is disabled.

By default, Directory is selected.

Report Directory

Report Directory
Defines the default directory where the report file is stored. To change the directory path, click Browse .

By default, the application temporary directory is used: ${CATTemp}.

Report Information

Maximum fastened parts
Lets you set the maximum number of fastened parts in the report file.

By default, this number is set to 5.

Maximum fastener components
Lets you set the maximum number of fastener components in the report file.

By default, the number is set to 5.

Units and Notation

Length Unit
Defines the length unit.
Two length units are available:
  • Millimeter
  • Inch.

By default, Millimeter is selected.

Mass Unit
Defines the mass unit.
Two mass units are available:
  • Kilogram
  • Pound

By default, Kilogram is selected.

Real number precision
Defines the number of decimal displayed after the numerical separator: from 0 to 10.

By default, one decimal is displayed.

Scientific notation
Defines whether the scientific notation is displayed.

By default, this check box is cleared.

Normal Computation and Update

Pilot part definition
Lets you automatically or manually define the piloting part. If it is automatic, the first selected part is the piloting part. If it is manual, you have to click the line corresponding to the part you want to define as the piloting part in the Spot Fastener Definition dialog box.

The piloting part is defined by a P icon on the left-side of the thumbnail.

By default, the option is set to Automatic.

Fastener Creation

Fastener Instance Position
Closest Common Node
If selected, during the creation of fasteners the Closest Common Node contextual command is automatically selected irrespective of the option you have previously used for creating fasteners.

By default, this check box is selected.

Active Product
If selected, during the creation of fasteners the Closest Common Node contextual command is automatically cleared irrespective of the option you have previously used for creating fasteners.
Restore Last Used Option
If selected, during the creation of fasteners the last option used for creating fasteners is restored across sessions.
You can select or clear the option by clicking the Closest Common Node contextual command.

Rule Check Integration in Fastening

After Fastener Creation command
Automatically runs the Check Rules command once the fastener is created. This ensures that the fasteners you design follow your design rules while being created.

By default, this check box is cleared.

After Fastener Edition command
Automatically runs the Check Rules command run once the fastener is modified. This ensures that the fasteners you modify follow your design rules.

By default, this check box is cleared.

Fastening Preview Sphere Radius

Preview Sphere Mode lets you define the way you want the sphere to be displayed. The sphere is a preview tool that is displayed during the location state if the app has not computed the normal.

Fixed Radius
Sets the sphere radius value as fixed, meaning that zoom in and zoom out operations do not affect the display of the sphere.
Dynamic Radius
Sets the sphere radius value as dynamic, meaning that zoom in and zoom out operations affect the display of the sphere.
Preview Sphere Radius Value
Sets the value you want for the preview sphere radius. Whatever mode you choose, Fixed Radius or Dynamic Radius, you need to define a radius value.

By default, the radius value is set to 2.5 mm.

Smart Projection

Use Smart Projection
Displays the Use Smart Projection option in the dialog box that appears when instantiating flexible fasteners. This option identifies correct projection surfaces depending on given stacking parts, and projects the selected points on the pilot part.

By default, this check box is cleared.

Surface Filtering

Ignore visible surfaces during stacking computation
Specifies if visible surfaces are taken into account in Autostacking and Smart Projection capabilities.

By default, this check box is cleared.
