Tolerancing

The tolerancing options let you configure tolerancing properties and behaviors specific to the .

This page discusses:

Annotation Set Creation

Standard
Defines the conventional standard dedicated to 3D Tolerancing & Annotation.

The options in the Standard appear as follows:

ANSI-ASME
ANSI-ASME standard for 3D.
ISO
ISO standard for 3D.
JIS
JIS standard for 3D.

By default, ISO standard is selected.

Based on the selected conventional standard, customized tolerances (ISO, ANSI-ASME, or JIS) appear in the General Tolerance list in the Limit of Size Definition dialog box.

Annotation Set ratio
Defines the default ratio that is applied to created annotation views.

By default, the ratio is:

  • 1:100 for Small range
  • 1:1 for Normal range
  • 100:1 for Large range

Ratio Assistant

Privilege ratios
Lets you add the ratios to be displayed in the Suggested ratio list.

Based on the selected range, the predefined ratios appear.

You can enter the ratio in the box and click to add it in the list. To remove the existing ratio value, you can select the value from the list and click .

Note: The added values should be in the limits defined for the selected range.
  • Small range: between 1:1 to 1:10000
  • Normal range: between 100:1 to 1:1 and 1:1 to 1:100
  • Large range: between 10000:1 to 1:1
  • Extra-large range: between 1000000:1 to 100:1

By default, The Normal Range is selected and the ratio is 1:1.

In the Limit of Size Definition dialog box, the customized tolerances (ISO, ANSI-ASME, or JIS) appear in the General Tolerance list as per selected conventional standard.

Library of Tolerancing Schemas for User Features

Name
Defines the library name that contains tolerancing schemas for user features.
Note: The library and the catalog co-exists. If the library with specified name is found, the storage and instantiation is done with the Library. If the library with specified name is not found, a catalog is searched. If the catalog with specified name is found then the storage and instantiation is done with the catalog.

Generative Tolerancing

Parameters
Click the Parameters button to access the generative tolerancing ISO and ASME parameters.
ISO
  • Options parameters: Lets you select the sets of parameters for the tolerancing feature to be used when you generate tolerances with ISO standard.
    • Entire
    • Simple

    By default, Entire is selected.

  • Default values parameters: Lets you select the tolerance values to be used when you generate tolerances with ISO standard based on the representation type selected.
    • Intermediate quality: Generates the tolerance values with intermediate precision
    • High quality: Generates the tolerance values with high precision
    • Rough quality: Generates the tolerance values with low precision

By default, Intermediate quality is selected.

Note: Click Browse Resource Sheet to open the corresponding resource .xlsx sheet.
ASME
  • Options parameters: Lets you select the set of parameters for the tolerancing feature to be used when you generate tolerances with ASME standard.
    • Entire
    • Simple

    By default, Entire is selected.

  • Default values parameters: Lets you select the tolerance values to be used when you generate tolerances with ASME standard based on the representation type selected.
    • Intermediate quality: Generates the tolerance values with intermediate precision
    • High quality: Generates the tolerance values with high precision
    • Rough quality: Generates the tolerance values with low precision

By default, Intermediate quality is selected.

Note: Click Browse Resource Sheet to open the corresponding resource sheet in the .xlsx sheet.

Semantic Control

Always try to create semantic tolerances and dimensions
Determines whether the application always tries to specify a semantic type for annotations during creation.
Important: Applies to annotations that can be semantic. The annotation display can be modified and moved according to the standard semantic.

By default, this check box is selected.

Always try to create semantic general tolerances on dimensions
Defines whether the application always tries to set as semantic a general tolerances dimension during its creation. Applicable on dimension which can be semantic.
Warning:

Only applies when Always try to create semantic tolerances and dimensions is selected.

By default, this check box is cleared.

Non-semantic tolerance creation allowed
Defines whether non-semantic tolerances creation is permitted.

By default, this check box is selected.

Non-semantic dimension creation allowed
Defines whether non-semantic dimensions creation is permitted.

By default, this check box is selected.

By default, Free is selected.

Leader Associativity To the Geometry

Free
Defines that leader annotations are freely positioned relative to their geometrical elements.
Perpendicular
Defines that leader annotations are positioned perpendicular to their geometrical elements.

Published Geometry

Create assembly annotation on external published geometry only
Defines whether assembly annotations are created only on external published geometry.
Important:

When this option is selected, the Forbidden cursor is displayed when passing over non-published geometries.

By default, this check box is cleared.

Note Object Attribute

Allow Note Object Attribute creation
Lets you create the Note Object Attributes (NOAs) with dittos or details.

By default, this check box is cleared.

Isolate the Ditto/Detail
Removes the reference dittos or details of the NOAs.
This check box is available only if the Allow Note Object Attribute creation check box is selected.

By default, this check box is cleared.
