Editing an Opportunity

The basic information for an opportunity includes the title, owner, estimated start and finish dates, type, and visibility. Editing of specific information is based on role: opportunity owner, assignees or Project Lead.

On the Opportunities list page, people with edit access for opportunities can edit the opportunity title, type, estimated benefit, estimated and actual dates, and description using Enable Edit.

  1. From the properties page for the opportunity, click Edit Details. See Opportunity Properties Page.
  2. Edit any of these fields as required:

    Owner. The person responsible for managing the opportunity. To assign ownership to another person, click and search for the person. Opportunity Assignees cannot change the owner.

    Policy. To change the policy, choose an option from the list.

    Title. The name for the opportunity.

    Description. A brief description of the opportunity.

    Visibility

    • Public. Anyone who can view the project can view the opportunity.
    • Restricted. The opportunity owner, assignees, project owner, and Project Leads can view the opportunity.

    Estimated Start Date. A guideline of when the opportunity owner expects the opportunity assignee to begin to work on it. Click to select a different date.

    Estimated Finish Date. A guideline of when the opportunity owner expects the opportunity assignee to complete the work. Click to select a different date.

    Opportunity Type. To change the type, select an option from the list: Cost, Quality, Technical, Resource, Performance, Schedule, Benefits, Manufacturability, Other.

    Estimated Benefit. The amount of the estimated benefit, along with the currency used.

  3. Click Done.
