Editing Task Properties Under a Project Template

You can edit properties for tasks belonging to a project template. Task types you can edit include Task, Gate, Milestone, and Phase.

Before you begin: List the project templates. See Project Templates Page.
  1. From the Project Templates page, click the Name of the task.
  2. At the top of the navigation pane click the name of the task.
The properties for the task display.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Change one or more of these fields for a Task, Milestone, Gate, or Phase:

Name. The name of the task.

Description. The description of the task.

Project Template Name. The name of the project template for the task.

Creation Date. The date on which the task was created.

Policy. The policy governing the task. Click the down-arrow to select another policy from the list.

Owner. The person who owns the task.

Task Requirement. Indicates whether this is an Optional or Mandatory task. The system's default behavior requires all tasks, even optional ones, to be completed before the project can be completed. If this is set to Mandatory, it cannot be changed to Optional in a project created from this template.

Calendar. You can choose the calendar for scheduling the task. In the search results that list available calendars, the Project Calendar column shows whether the calendar is added to a project. If a task does not have a calendar connected to it and has only one assignee, the assignee's location calendar is used for project scheduling. If a task does not have a calendar connected to it and has multiple assignees, the default project calendar is used for scheduling. The project calendar overrides a task calendar if scheduling conflicts occur between calendars. For example, if a project has a start time at 9.00 Hr and its subtask has another calendar connected to it which has a "Work Start Time" at 8.00 Hr, then the task will start at 9.00 Hr.

Task Constraint Type. The type of constraint for this task, which specifies when the task should be completed within the project.

For non-summary tasks, values can be "As Late as Possible," "As Soon as Possible," "Start No Earlier Than," "Finish No Earlier Than," "Start No Later Than," "Finish No Later Than,' "Must Finish On," or "Must Start On."

For summary tasks, values depend on whether the project schedule is from the start date or finish date.

Needs Review. Indicates whether this task requires a review. A change in this value takes effect once a project is created from the project template.

  5. Click Done.
