About Systems

A system comprises one or more operations (and possibly subsystems) that correspond to the steps necessary to realize completely a manufacturing assembly that is delimited by the scope between the system and an item. Systems can be created and managed in Planning Structure.

Introduction

It is possible to have several root systems under the PPR Context.

This allows you to define several work plans (or item plans) for the same item. You can easily compare the different work plans by switching from one to another. You do that by double-clicking a root system.

This changes the active root system, which is framed in blue in the tree.

At a lower level of the tree, it is possible to insert new and existing systems and operations.

Available System Types

General, Transformation, Transfer, and Work plan systems are available in Planning Structure when Process Planning is installed. Sink, Source, and Buffer systems are also available when Process Flow Simulation is installed.

Links Between Systems, Items, and Operations

A system holds a set of operations (and possibly subsystems) that correspond to the steps necessary to realize completely a manufacturing structure that is delimited by the scope between the system and an item.

Each operation contributes to the realization of one or more child items related to the item dedicated to the system.

In Planning Structure, scope links can be created between systems and items. However, implement links between operations and items can be created in Process Planning only.
