Defining and Visualizing Simulation Scenarios

You can create, edit and visualize the simulation scenarios.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin:

Open the data with the scope and operations assigned, and select the Process Flow Simulation app.

Create a Simulation Scenario

You can create the simulation scenarios.

  1. Select a system from System Editor or PPR Context and click Production System Simulation .
    The Create Simulation dialog box appears.
  2. Enter the Name, Description, and click Finish.
    A simulation object with a scenario creates, and opens in the simulation context.

    Note: When you are in a simulation context, you can go back to the System Editor to edit the scenarios with Edit Scenario Parameters .

  3. Right-click a scenario in the PPR Context, and select Simulate and Generate Results .
  4. Click OK in the Simulate and Generate Result dialog box.
    The Scenarios shows the selected scenario. Click OK to select the scenario.

    The update operation opens first, then the Computation Status dialog box and the simulation progress bar appear. The Computation Status dialog box displays the status and time of each simulation.

    The result of the scenario appears in the Result node.



    Note: If an error is detected during the computation, the Incident Diagnosis dialog box appears for analyzing the problem.

  5. Select the System Editor.
    Note: Scenario simulation is supported only for models that are simulated and validated with Play.

Edit Simulation Scenario

You can edit the simulation scenarios.

  1. Click Edit Scenario Parameters in the System Editor to edit the scenario parameters.

    Note: Scenario simulation are supported for models that are simulated and validated with Play.

    The Scenario Parameters dialog box appears.
  2. Enter the Simulation Time, Warmup Time and No of Runs and click OK.
  3. Select a scenario and click Update Scenario .
  4. Click Yes in the Confirm Update dialog box.

    The scenario and the PPR context updates.

    If any product fails to update, a message appears in the Update Diagnostic dialog box.

  5. Enter the Simulation Time, Warmup Time and No of Runs and click OK.
    1. Modify the parameters and click OK.

      Editing the scenario parameters helps you avoid unnecessary switching between the simulation view and the System Editor.

      The Simulation Time, Warmup Time and No. of Runs are updated.
      • Simulation Time: Time after which simulation automatically stops.
      • Warmup Time: Time at which statistics collection starts.
      • No. of Runs: Number of times for which simulation runs.
    2. Click Play to simulate, to execute and to control the system simulation.

Work with Scenarios in System Editor

You can work with scenarios in System Editor.

  1. Select the System Editor.
    The Production System Scenarios dialog box appear.

    By default, the active scenario is selected.

  2. Click to get Edit Simulation Object sub-toolbar.
  3. Click to add a scenario in the Scenario drop-down list.
  4. Click to remove a scenario in the Scenario drop-down list.
  5. Click to get Edit Scenario sub-toolbar.
  6. Click Edit Scenario Parameters to edit scenario parameters.
  7. Click Edit Scenario Inputs and select a system to edit scenario inputs.
    Modify the scenario inputs in Define Scenario Input Parameters dialog box.
  8. Click Generate and View Results of Scenario to view the saved and generated simulation results.
