Creating Templates for 3DEXPERIENCE Products, Parts, and Drawings with CAD Master

You can create your own templates for 3DEXPERIENCE products, parts, and drawings with CAD master. These templates are used to create new products, parts, and drawings from Product Structure Editor, at the root level or inserted in an existing product.

Default templates are available for Product Structure Editor, but you can create and use your own ones instead. You can, for example, create templates with custom attributes or a default geometry.

This task shows you how to:

Create Object-Based Templates for 3DEXPERIENCE Products, Parts, and Drawings with CAD Master

You can create object-based templates for products, parts, and drawings with CAD origin.

Create the templates from the CAD, and save them in the 3DEXPERIENCE to be used from Product Structure Editor. For more information, see the user's guide of the CAD connector in Social and Collaborative: 3DEXPERIENCE Open: Collaborative Design.

Create File-Based Templates for 3DEXPERIENCE Products and Parts with CATIA V5 Master

You can create file-based templates for products and parts with CATIA V5 CAD origin.

Product Structure Editor requires the following template types:

  • For V5 Parts: .CATPart and .cgr templates (.cgr templates do not support geometry.)
  • For V5 Products: .CATProduct templates.

Environment: On premises only

  1. Go to the <serverInstallDirectory>/STAGING/ematrix/WEB-INF/resources/ups directory, where the default templates are located.

Important: Anyone who has access to this directory can replace the templates.

  2. Replace the default file-based templates with your own ones.

Use the same names as the default templates:

    • UPSV5PartTemplate.CATPart
    • UPSV5PartTemplate.cgr
    • UPSV5ProductTemplate.CATProduct

  3. Rebuild the war and deploy the application again.

Your own templates are used when creating a Part or Product with CATIA V5 CAD origin from Product Structure Editor.
