Expanding and Collapsing a Structure

You can expand a structure on several levels to display objects and collapse them again.

This task shows you how to:

Expand a Structure

  1. To expand all the children of an object, select the object, and from the View section of the action bar, click Expand All .

In a structure, the following symbols represent the indicated states:

    Symbol State Action When Clicked
    + Collapsed Expand
    - Expanded Collapse
    Partially expanded* Expand
    * the partially expanded state appears in certain contexts where a command objective is fulfilled without having to completely expand neighboring branches.

  2. To expand an object manually, click the + icon next to the object you want to expand.
  3. To expand a specific number of levels under an object:
    1. Select an object.
    2. From the View section of the action bar, click Expand N Levels .
    3. Enter the number of levels and click .

    Notes:
    • The parent nodes containing only one 3D shape remain collapsed. You can expand them manually to display the 3D shape.
    • You can access all 6WTags from the structure even when only the root is loaded. This enables you to complete only required branches when selecting 6WTags.
    • Expanding a large structure can fail. If you do so, a warning message appears and asks you to confirm if you want to continue. To expand the structure anyway, click Yes. If you want to cancel the expand, click No.

A structure is considered as large if it has at least:

      • 20 000 leaves
      • 100 000 occurrences
      • 50 000 objects

    • If you are using the app in a language other than English, the type in the Type column is translated when you scroll the structure.

Collapse a Structure

Once the structure is expanded, you can collapse it again.

  1. To collapse all the children of an object, select the object , and, from the View section of the action bar, click Collapse All .
  2. To collapse an object manually, click the - symbol next to the object.

When you use the - sign to manually collapse a node, only this node is collapsed, and not the children under it. If you expand the node again, the children that were expanded are still expanded.
